Here are some important editors and their main features for creating custom rhythm game charts.

A chart editor developed by crash5band. Also known as "Official MikuMikuWorld" or "Official MMW".

MikuMikuWorld for Chart Cyanvas

MikuMikuWorld for Chart Cyanvas

An improved version of MikuMikuWorld by Nanashi. Commonly referred to as "MMW4CC" or simply "MikuMikuWorld" nowadays. Also called "Modded MikuMikuWorld". Recommended for most users unless you have a specific preference.

Main Features
  • High-Speed Interpolation

    • Automatically interpolates the high-speed between the first and last points in the selected range at a specified interval and increment/decrement.
    • Example: Select the high-speed section, then right-click and choose "Interpolate High-Speed" at the bottom of the menu.
  • Compress to First/Last Note

    • Compresses the spacing between selected notes as much as possible while maintaining their relative positions.
    • Example: To compress to the first note, select the notes, then right-click and choose "Compress (to First Note)" in the lower middle of the menu.
    • This also works for slides, guides (start/end/mid points), and high-speed sections.
  • Preset Feature

    • Select notes and click "Add to Preset" at the bottom right to save the selection as a preset.
  • Waveform Display

    • Displays the audio waveform in the center of the lane.
  • Bookmark Feature

    • Click the lane with the selection tool, then click "Add Bookmark" at the bottom right to set a waypoint at the red line.
    • You can rename white markers on the lane, and jump to a specific measure by entering a value in the red arrow box at the bottom left.
  • Absolute/Relative/Individual Absolute Snap

    • Changes how notes move when dragged.
    • Absolute Snap: Aligns notes to the beat grid.
    • Relative Snap: Moves notes by a specified division while maintaining their offset from the grid.
    • Individual Absolute Snap: Aligns multiple notes to the grid.
  • Change Playback Speed

    • Allows you to change the playback speed to 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%.
  • Trace Conversion

    • Places traces along slides/guides at specified intervals.
    • "Add Trace": Select a slide or guide, then right-click and choose "Add Trace" at the bottom of the menu.
    • "Convert to Trace": Select a slide or guide, then right-click and choose "Convert to Trace" at the bottom of the menu.

MikuMikuWorld for Untitled Sekai

A version of MikuMikuWorld improved by Piiman. Also known as "MMW4US" (MikuMikuWorld for Untitled Sekai).

Ched

Ched

A lightweight chart editor for a certain slider-headbang rhythm game, developed by paralleltree. Also called "Official Ched". Has limited features but is easy to use.

Ched SKEdition

A modded version of Official Ched with many added features by Yukkuri Sky. Also known as "Modded Ched".
